Amazing Olympafrica Centre with Street Handball training/workshop in Lusaka, Zambia

During my first day in Lusaka, Zambia I visited Olympafrica Centre, I had the opportunity to meet with Joseph Daka, the CEO and founder of the Chikondi Sports Youth Arise Foundation (CSYAF). From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the excitement and enthusiasm of the children who wait for practicing street handball.

After our meeting, Joseph kindly invited me to join a street handball workshop/training session. It was an amazing experience to interact with the children, who come from various communities around the Olympafrica Centre. The program currently serves over 80 children, aged between 4 and 14 years old, who train three days a week in street handball. Watching Joseph lead the training sessions was truly a highlight of my visit. His dedication to fostering a positive and fun environment for the kids was evident, and it was a pleasure to see the children learning and playing with so much joy. Their passion for the game was palpable, and it was inspiring to see such energy and commitment in the air.

A huge thank you to Joseph Daka and Mubanga for their warm hospitality and for showing me around Lusaka during my 14-day visit. I am grateful for the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible work being done by CSYAF to support and empower young athletes in Zambia.

It was an unforgettable experience, and I look forward to seeing the continued success of the street handball program and the positive impact it has on the lives of these children.

Chikondi Sports Youth Arise Foundation (CSYAF): Children and young people participating in our program go to different schools around the catchment area , and some do not go to school due to their family financial challenges. The Zambian government introduced free education, but because some families can not afford daily basic needs, it has affected some of the children academics and Chikondi Sports Arise Foundation-CSYAF is addressing some of these challenges faced by the children through sports. 45 girls and 60 boys participate in our training sessions.
