- Report:
Like last year, this year’s festival was held at “Akamatsu Park” in Nanae-cho, Kameda-gun, Tokyo.
The number of participants this year was 50 elementary school students (45 boys and 5 girls). Although the number of girls competing is decreasing year by year, the number of younger students gradually increased, making the games very cute and tough.
In addition, a parents’ exhibition was held to make the event more enjoyable for parents as well.
The number of teams was down this year due to the non-participation of one of the regular teams because they could not secure a practice site due to other competitions and inter-high school competitions, but one sports organization participated from the previous year, with five upper grade teams and four lower grade teams, each playing in a round-robin league.
Although the number of games was increased, the emphasis was placed on learning as much as possible through handball, as it is important to gain experience at this age group.
In consideration of the high temperatures, we asked the teams to bring their own tents and to cool down in them as much as possible to prevent heatstroke.
The day of the tournament was cloudy and breezy, and although the temperature was up to 29°C, it felt cool.
Games were not pushed and were able to proceed to the end in the scheduled time.
We have been working on referee training at every tournament, and this year we had a new referee again. I feel that we are making progress little by little.
For the awards ceremony, all teams from first to fifth place were given awards, and two outstanding players from each team were announced and given commemorative gifts. Each person is given a commemorative gift for their participation.
Next time, we felt that it would be a good idea to incorporate a raffle, etc. and hand out candy…we will include this in our plans.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those involved for their efforts.
We also deeply appreciate the cooperation of the management and referees.
2. Objective To promote the sound upbringing and exchange of children and the spread of
street hands, centered on the development of culture and education in Hokkaido.
The purpose of this project is to promote the sound development and exchange of
children and the diffusion of street handball. To promote children’s physical and
mental growth and improvement through street handball,
and also to encourage exchange among the participating children and their parents.
The children will also have the opportunity to interact with many other people. In this
way, we hope that the joy of street handball will be shared not only by the children,
but also by their parents and other participants.
In this way, we hope to make the fun of street handball known not only to the children,
but also to the parents and guardians who participate in the event, and to expand the
number of participants in the future and to the next tournament.
