Street Handball Iran The women's street handball festival

The Women’s Street Handball Festival at Shazand Refinery was a awesome celebration of the sport 🤩 hosted at the Sports Complex of Shazand Refinery in Mahajran, Iran 🇮🇷 Mothers and daughters of street handball players came together to enjoy and showcase their skills in this dynamic and fair-play-driven version of the game.

A big thank you to all the Street Handball players, Shazand Refinery, Street Handball Iran, and Mansour Akbarabadi for making it possible! 🙏😀

This week, inspired by the global handball excitement, we shift our focus from grassroots celebrations to the professional stage 🤾‍♂️

  • On December 10, Japan 🇯🇵 claimed victory at the Asian Women’s Handball Championship 🤾‍♂️, with Iran 🇮🇷 securing an impressive 4th place.
  • Today, Norway 🇳🇴 and Denmark 🇩🇰 face off in the final of the European Women’s Handball Championship.

Street handball, with its fast-paced and inclusive fair play rules, brought extra excitement to the festival. Games followed the core principles of street handball: no physical contact, no dribling, max 3 steps a focus on fair play, and an emphasis on creativity over competition. Matches were played on smaller courts with normal size goals, promoting teamwork and participation for all skill levels.

To help grow events like this, we are calling on sponsors to support our efforts by providing more “SH Start Kits,” including street handball balls, training bibs, and portable junior goals. These essential tools help bring the joy of street handball to communities everywhere.

If you’d like to contribute, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Together, we can spread the spirit of street handball even further!

A big thank you to all the Street Handball players, Shazand Refinery, Street Handball Iran, and Mansour Akbarabadi for making it possible!
